Flesh and Blood

I've thought about becoming a medical examiner before and this book has re-sparked that interest. Dr. Kay Scarpetta is a tough, no-nonsense woman when it comes to solving crime. The pacing of this book works well with the story. As the clues start to make more sense, the plot becomes more interesting and events begin to quicken. Patricia Cornwell uses her clever wit to give each character life. The dynamic between Scarpetta and her colleagues provoke bias in the reader and allow for assumptions that are likely to be proven wrong later in the novel. A satisfying twist to the story paves the way for the next installment in the series.
